Abstract

Introduction: Job satisfaction has a direct relationship with the job performance of teachers. The purpose of this research is to compare the level of job satisfaction of teachers and its factors by gender.
Method: The statistical population of the research is male and female teachers of all grades in Kalaleh city, who were selected using multi-stage sampling, and the theoretical framework was set based on Herzberg's opinions.
Findings: Women's job satisfaction is more than men's. Work history, age, in-service training, and employment status had the greatest impact on men's job satisfaction, respectively. In-service training, number of children, employment status and welfare services had the greatest impact on women's job satisfaction. Men's job satisfaction increases with age, but women's job satisfaction decreases. As men's work experience increases, their job satisfaction increases, but women's job satisfaction decreases as their work experience increases. With the increase in the number of children, women's job satisfaction increases, but the increase in the number of men's children decreases their job satisfaction.
Results: The nature of work is an important determinant of job satisfaction; Female teachers see their job in balance with motherly and wifely duties, and with increasing age and decreasing maternal duties, their job satisfaction decreases, but men's job satisfaction increases with increasing age and work experience causing burnout.
