The effect of Job Crafting on the Job performance of teachers: Emphasizing the mediating role of work engagement (Case of study: non – government high schools in district two of Shiraz)

Abstract

Introduction
One of the solutions that can make teachers consider their job meaningful and improve their work engagement and job performance is job crafting. Therefore, the main goal of this research is to measure the impact of job crafting on teacher's job performance with the mediation of work engagement.

Methods
The current research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive in terms of the data collection method. The statistical population consists of 69 non-governmental high schools in the two districts of Shiraz, and based on the sample size formula in the limited population, data were collected from 62 high schools. The data collection tool was a five-point Likert scale questionnaire. The validity of the questionnaire was checked in terms of content and structure, and reliability was also calculated by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient (0.9). Data were analyzed using SPSS and Smart PLS statistical software.

Discussion and Results
The results showed that job crafting has a positive and significant effect on job performance; job crafting has a positive and significant effect on work engagement; work engagement has a negative effect on job performance and finally, job crafting with the mediation of work engagement has a positive and significant effect on job performance.

Conclusion
Education of Shiraz district and non-government high school managers of this district should allow the teachers to use the technique of job crafting to improve their work engagement and job performance.
