Explanation of educational proverbs in Dehkhoda's proverbs from the perspective of the Dewey school of pragmatism (with emphasis on the role of teacher, student and practical application in life)

Abstract
Aim and Introduction:
Proverbs contain broad educational and moral issues that also have a great impact on education. These proverbs come from experience, and knowing them can prevent you from re-experiencing a situation that someone else has been in before. The present study aims to examine the proverbs in the educational field in the four-volume book of Dehkhoda's Proverbs and Rulings from the perspective of Dewey's pragmatism and to infer educational implications from them in teacher-student interaction So that the educational significance of proverbs can be extracted from them and have a clearer meaning for the audience.
 
Methodology:
 The approach of the present qualitative research is inferential. The criteria for selecting proverbs are: a) It was related to the field of education, b) the proverbs were not common and well-known, and c) the possibility of inferring and extracting educational implications. The criteria for proverbs not being common were their lack of popularity among the people, their lack of use and application in the people's languages ​​and dialects, and their unavailability in the people's folklore literature. Given the breadth of the topic of the educational implications of proverbs, sampling was purposeful and criteria-based. Research Field, 4-volume book of proverbs and rulings of Dehkhoda (2022). Published by Aras. The reason for choosing this source was that the book of Proverbs and Sayings is dedicated to the subject of proverbs and the availability of a large volume of this material.
 
Findings:
 After studying the book Proverbs and the Rule of Dehkhoda, 14 proverbs related to the field of education were selected. Then, each of these proverbs was analyzed in 4 sections: educational implication, educational implication from the teacher's perspective, educational implication from the student's perspective, and its application. And it has examined the role of each of these parables in the education and training of students. Among the proverbs are:

Don't make the pen into a sword.

Educational implication: The institution of education is much more influential than other institutions.

Teacher: The role of a teacher in education is much more effective than that of a soldier on the battlefield.
Student: The role of a thoughtful student in consciously advancing issues is more effective than that of a submissive individual.
Application: Science and knowledge have led to the development of individual and social growth.
Knowledge must be applied.

Educational implication: Storing information without applying it is futile.

Teacher: Being a moral role model is the unique mission of a teacher.
Student: Applying the little information they learn to learn skills
Application: Creating opportunities to take risks and gain new experiences with pragmatism and the formation of a critical culture in society.
Whoever studies knowledge and does not act upon it is like a cow that does not graze and does not lay eggs.

Educational implication: Two hundred words are not half a deed.

The teacher: should be a true example of knowledge and practice.
Student: Gaining real-life experiences by applying what they have learned
Application: Creating opportunities to take risks and gain new experiences with pragmatism and the formation of a critical culture in society.
Without knowledge, there is only one thing: greyhound and mystery.

Educational implication: Science determines the level of development of societies

Teacher: The difference between teachers is in their level of knowledge and ability.
Student: The criterion for distinguishing between students is their desire to acquire knowledge.
Application: Determining the social status of individuals and saving society from total depravity.
 

Discussion and Conclusion:
The teacher and student, interacting with each other and using the educational implications derived from proverbs, can foster the growth of thought and show their impact on various issues and help strengthen and consolidate the scientific and cultural infrastructure of society. Applying the educational tips of these proverbs will guide society towards the right path. And they can be considered useful for all people who are somehow involved in education. Based on this, the findings indicate that by studying and acquiring knowledge and awareness in various fields and practicing what you have learned, you will increase your skills, lead to greater progress and success in life, and achieve personal and social development and growth. To this end, the human mind must desire change and progress in order to play a fundamental role in advancing human society and the path of dialogue must remain between humans in any way possible. Also, by applying the educational points of these proverbs, thinking and reflection can be promoted in the culture of society.
