Factor Structure Analysis of “learning and Studying Approaches” Inventory in University Students

Abstract

The goal of the paper has been factor structure analysis of learning and studying approaches inventory and survey on Weinstein and Palmer (2002). Population was all Shahid Beheshti University students that six hundred of them was selected through clustering sampling and answered to the learning and studying approaches inventory that has 80 items. Data was analyzed, using exploratory factor analysis. Results show that exploratory factor analysis explains the five-factor model of measurement, including: Targeted education, Academic self-regulation, Focus, Information processing and Self-assessment. Placement of new items in the five-factor indicates a novel factor pattern. Researchers must pay attention to the cultural context, relating to learning and studying approaches, its measurement tool and validating appropriate tools to the culture that in difference societies has been provided to measure these approaches.
