Abstract:   (5953 Views)
Purpose: This study investigated the relation between social axioms (Social Cynicism, Social Complexity, Reward for Application, Religiosity and Fate Control) and a set of variables indicating positive social functioning (gratitude, connectedness to nature, social participation, perspective taking and emphatic concern) in Iran. Method: a convenience sample of 303 Iranian university students were used. Bivariate correlation and canonical correlation analyses were used to analyze the data. Findings: Findings showed that reward for application and social complexity were the strongest correlates of criterion variables while fate control was not significantly related to them. Among the criterion variables, gratitude had the strongest relation to social axioms while social participation had the least. Conclusion: It can be concluded that social axioms have noticeable correlations with the criterion variable set used in this study. Findings are discussed with reference to prior studies done in other countries.
